Preparing For Love.

WARNING. LONG POST AHEAD.

This is what men want.
They want a lady in the living room and a lover in the bedroom.
They want a gourmet cook and a woman with a terrific sense of humour.
They want to be mothered. (or perhaps not...)
Men don't like a hard,competitive, tough woman.
She makes them feel threatened.
And when they feel threatened in one respect, they feel the same in ALL respects.
That way,lies impotence.
Men like an air of mystery.
Don't tell him where you're going or what you're doing.
Smile enigmatically. Keep secrets.
Have flowers with suggestive notes attached delivered to yourself.
Blush with confusion when he notices them.

The thing is, when we get lonely and scared,
we believe things.
Say, it's raining.
You come home from your boring job, throw open the door to your flat and collapse in flooded tears.
You can't bear the idea of spending one more evening on your sofa,
staring at the same old knick-knacks and sticking yet another plate of leftovers into the microwave.
You need a life. You need a MAN. (despo much?)

Okay.
PAY CLOSE ATTENTION NOW.
I have the ULTIMATE man-getting advice.
Just listen to me.
Here's what you should do.

NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

If he's the WRONG man,
you can smother yourself with perfume and French Maid's outfits,
and nothing will work.
You'll never get him ~ you don't have a chance.

If he is the RIGHT man,
however, you can have greasy hiar,
spinach in your teeth, and wear your skirt inside out,
he'll still be entranced and will want to follow you to the ends of the earth.

Okay, the second part.
To get a man, you have to BE READY for a man.
Taking a man into your life is an enormous risk.
Can you open your heart, can you be trusting and vulnerable,
knowing that you're also opening yourself up to the possibility of rejection and heartbreak?
Can you let another person inside your defences, let him know who you are
and what you're really like, knowing that he might leave you one day?
Can you bear the pain?

Maybe,
when you stop practising self-hatred,
when you start feeling affection for yourself,
then your fears and defences will fall.
Then you're ready for a man.
and, hopefully he'll be ready for you too.
